December 10 is International Human Rights Day in honor of the United Nations adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. December 7 marks another day of protest in Iran, which has continued since the disputed elections from June 12 of this year, despite mass arrests and violent oppression.
We will honor both days with a lecture entitled:

The One Million Signatures Campaign is a peaceful grassroots movement for gender equality that has sprung from the efforts of Iranian women inside Iran. The Campaign officially launched on August 27, 2006, it aims to collect one million signatures in support of a petition addressed to the Iranian Parliament asking for the revision and reform of current laws, which discriminate against women. Although the campaign is legal within the Iranian constitution, 43 activists have spent time in jail so far; some have received prison sentences and many have been freed on probation or such high bail that their activism has been suppressed.
